Recognition of On-campus Student Groups
ISA and SAC will continue to recognize existing
on-campus student groups developed as student branches of SSA.
SAC will assist with the recruitment of student ISA members. To become a
recognized student organization, student groups will be reviewed
and approved by their local Chapter, and subsequently by the ISA
Board of Directors. This process will help to promote ISA Chapter
and Board support and recognition for student organizations.
On-campus student organizations will remain free to select
their own names, as well as charge any regular dues for
membership in their group
ISA Student Memberships
ISA will continue to offer a student membership.
SAC is proposing that half of this membership fee go toward
funding SAC activities including covering a portion of ISA’s
costs of servicing student members. It is recommended that the
remaining half go to the student member’s home ISA chapter.
Upon acceptance of student membership revenue, chapters would provide the students with
Chapter membership and all of the associated Chapter benefits and privileges.

SAC encourages each Professional Affiliation (PA) to
develop a student membership option of its own design. Students
wishing to obtain membership in any of the 4 PA’s would then meet
the requirements of that particular PA. This simplification of
membership options provides for better direct funding of
student activities and allows the PA’s to construct their
own student membership. This approach provides students with
a clear understanding of their membership in ISA while
eliminating confusion created by multiple affiliation options.
Chapters will continue to have the option of
providing a chapter-only membership for students that do not
wish to join ISA. The structure and pricing of Chapter
memberships shall be at the discretion of the individual Chapters.
